The millennial urge to take photos of

My photos, November 2024 - April 2025

Do you ever think about Tumblr? Not me, at least not until I started compiling a photo-dump post. What is it that makes me seek out lonely, depopulated little scenes and go "wow, gotta remember that"? Why am I more moved to record a bundle of pool noodles for posterity than capture memories of my friends or family? I'm trying to change. Maybe it's because so much of our relationships are already mediated through texting and apps. Maybe it's actually more social to contribute to the endless flow of "I saw this"/"I like this" than to go have a day out or go to a party and take some snaps. Will you remember me for my aesthetic posts? Was it weird for me to keep making a world with no one in it?

Signs

The original anonymous message.

Wes Anderson-esque symmetrical shit

The lifelong effects of seeing The Royal Tenenbaums at a formative age. Well, it sure beats Saltburn.

Wistful-looking inanimate objects

I nearly cried replacing my mailbox because the old one was bad and ugly but it tried so hard to do a good job.

Creepy kitsch

Who doesn't appreciate a nasty little friend.

Things that reminds me of Sailor Moon

For me, nothing will ever reach the heights of cunt populated by the Sailor Senshi.

BIG SKIES

Many years of walking to work at dawn, walking home in the dark.
